Here’s your employer cheat sheet to prepare for all the new laws taking effect in July 2026 (July 1, unless otherwise noted). Nebraska Minimum Wage Poster Change

The Nebraska Minimum Wage poster has been updated. The Nebraska Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect the removal of the 2016-2025 minimum wage rates. The poster now reflects the minimum wage rates for 2026-2030.   The poster was also updated with information on the youth minimum hourly wage rates. This posting appears on the Nebraska Combination Poster. This is a mandatory change. Statutory language regarding this posting: Nebraska Governor recently signed Legislative Bill 258 (LB 258), which changes how Nebraska’s minimum wage will increase in the future. Instead of automatically adjusting each year based on inflation, the minimum wage will now increase by a fixed rate of 1.75% annually. The law also establishes a separate youth minimum wage for employees ages 14 and 15, starting at $13.50 per hour and increasing by 1.5% every five years beginning in 2030. Nebraska Enacts State WARN Law

On April 14, 2026, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed into a new state-level Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which requires employers with one hundred or more employees to provide a ninety-day advance notice of mass layoffs and covered business closings. 0:00 8:52 Quick Hits A new law in Nebraska (Legislative Bill 921) requires employers with one hundred or more workers to provide notice at least ninety days before a mass layoff or business closing. The law stipulates certain information that must be included in the layoff notices and how the notices may be delivered. The law will take effect on July 18, 2026. Nebraska’s mini-WARN Act, enacted under Legislative Bill (LB) 921 , defines “mass layoff” as a “reduction in employment force that is not the result of a business closing and results in an employment loss at a single site of employment during any thirty-day period of one hundred or more employees,” not including part-time employees.
