DOL Announces Proposed Rule on Joint Employment  On April 22, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division announced a  Notice of Proposed Rulemaking  (NPRM) on joint employer status under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA). The NPRM proposes separate analyses to assess horizontal and vertical joint employment scenarios given the inherent differences between those business relationships. On April 23, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order (EO) to promote education on and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12, higher education, and workplace settings through public-private partnerships with industry leaders and academic institutions . The order continues the Trump administration’s efforts to expand and promote this emerging technology. Quick Hits President Trump’s executive order aims to e nhance AI education and workforce development in the United States.
