Labor Law Poster Spotlight: Important New Posters from New Hampshire, Los Angeles County, and D.C.
New Hampshire Notice of Veterans’ Benefits and Services Poster
On July 19, 2024, Governor Chris Sununu signed Senate Bill 588 (SB 588), which requires employers to post a new notice of veterans’ benefits and services poster in the workplace.
New Hampshire’s Department of Labor Commissioner, in consultation with the Department of Business and Economic Affairs and Office of Workforce Opportunity, are required under SB 588 to develop a new veterans’ benefits and services notice with the following information:
- “(a) Contact and website information for the New Hampshire department of military affairs and veterans services;
- (b) Information about substance abuse and mental health treatment resources;
- (c) Educational, workforce, and training resources;
- (d) Resources for tax benefit information;
- (e) Information about obtaining a veteran’s indicator on a state driver’s license or non-driver picture identification card;
- (f) Information about eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits under state or federal law;
- (g) Legal services resources; and
- (h) Contact information for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Crisis Line.”
The Notice of Veterans’ Benefits and Services Poster is required to be displayed by all employers in a location accessible to all employees. SB 588 is effective 60 days after passage, on Sep. 17, 2024. Accordingly, the state’s Department of Labor released the new poster this last month.

Los Angeles County Unincorporated Fair Chance Ordinance Poster
Los Angeles County finally released a new and much-anticipated labor law poster relating to its Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers that recently went into effect.
For background, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors adopted the Fair Chance Ordinance on Feb. 27, 2024. Under the new ordinance, covered employers are prohibited (with some exceptions) from asking individuals about criminal history before extending a conditional offer of employment, considering criminal history older than 7 years, and withdrawing a conditional offer prior to engaging in the county’s Fair Chance Process. The ordinance went into effect on Sep. 3, 2024.
The Los Angeles County Unincorporated Fair Chance Ordinance poster is required to be displayed by all employers with 5 or more employees who perform at least 2 hours of work per week in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The poster must be displayed at every workplace or job site in English and any other language spoken by at least 10% of the employer’s workforce; however, Los Angeles County has only released the English version of the poster to date.
Like the newly released New Hampshire Veterans’ Benefits and Services poster, the new Fair Chance poster has also been added to the GovDocs Update Program, which is shipping to customer locations in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
Washington D.C. Time Off to Vote Poster
As the 2024 general election approaches, Washington D.C. revised its Time Off to Vote poster to include updates to the Dates and Times of Voting section for the Nov. 5 election, specifically including the deadlines for early voting and when the vote centers are open and closed on election day. In addition, the DC Board of Elections clarified that, “This notice must be posted conspicuously at all sites where employees report to work or by otherwise providing this notice to employees.”
The posting is required for all employers and must be posted at least 60 days in advance. For more information on D.C.’s Time Off to Vote posters, as well as other jurisdictions that require similar posters, check out the recent Employment Law News Blog: Time Off to Vote Posters for Employers in California, New York, and D.C.
Updated D.C. Time Off to Vote posters are currently shipping to impacted customers and are also included in the GovDocs Intranet Poster Program.
